Retrogression
2020
archives of the future
Retrogression is part of the continuation of the SYRIA2087 project in 2020.
Retrogression presents a series of archival photographs of
Martian landscapes and abandoned Syrian architecture, printed as
slides. These images—both the archival originals and their manipulated
versions—blur the boundaries between two planets; one landscape
deliberately devoid of human presence, the other inherently
so.
Installed within the museum space, a slide projector displayed 80
different frames in a looped sequence.
The project was presented as part of a solo exhibition titled “SYRIA2087.
Fossils of the Future” at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe
in Hamburg (06.2020 - 06.2021).
