Anna Banout is a Syrian-Polish experimental designer and artist whose research-based works weave a rich tapestry of design processes combined with cultural narratives.
Her diverse background profoundly influences her work, driving her to explore and challenge the intricate relationships between people and objects. Guided by curiosity and critical thinking, Banout uses design as a powerful storytelling tool, traversing the realms of personal and collective experiences and narratives.
Banout's work has garnered international recognition. Her master's diploma project, "SYRIA 2087," won first prize at the International Diploma Selection 2017 during Designblok in Prague. In 2020, her first solo museum exhibition, "Fossils of the Future," was held at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg.
Her works have been showcased globally, from the Centre Pompidou in Paris to Station Gallery in Beirut and Radialsystem V in Berlin. She has participated in renowned design festivals such as Gdynia Design Days, Łódź Design Festival, Ambiente Frankfurt, and Maison&Objet Paris. Banout has also received scholarships from prestigious institutions, including the Adam Mickiewicz Institute and Feldfünf Berlin. Anna Banout’s educational background is product design (MA with honors ’17 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw) with additional postgraduate studies in creative coding and basketry.
