Anna Banout graduated from the Faculty of Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Design at the Faculty of Arts at the Pedagogical University in Krakow, the Creative Coding postgraduate program at the School of Form, SWPS University in Warsaw and the School of Crafts at the Design Castle in Cieszyn, with a specialisation in basketry. In her practice, Banout combines design processes with cultural contexts, using objects as potent tools for storytelling and delves into the intricate dynamics between human beings and objects, traversing the realms of personal and societal experiences and narratives.

Her master’s diploma project “SYRIA 2087” received the first prize at the International Diploma Selection 2017 festival during Designblok in Prague, and in 2020, her first solo museum exhibition titled “Fossils of the Future” took place at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg. Her works have been exhibited in group and solo exhibitions in galleries, museums, and cultural institutions in Poland and around the world, including at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Station Gallery in Beirut, Radialsystem V in Berlin, and at design festivals such as Gdynia Design Days, Łódź Design Festival, Ambiente Frankfurt, and Maison&Objet Paris. Banout has also received scholarships from the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Feldfünf Berlin, and the Polish Institute Berlin.
